non-identification meditation
Updated: Sep 11

Take a comfortable meditative position. This meditation can be done sitting, lying down, standing, or walking.
Take a few relaxing, refreshing breaths. Power the breath through the belly, draw through the nose, inflate the chase, & release: ahhhhh.
During the session, follow these two guidelines:
(1) non-identification with doings
non-identification meditation
Do not identify any doing as yours, & do not identify any doing as not yours.
Refrain from identifying any doing as yours or not yours.
E.g., if you notice breathing, do not identify the breathing as yours, & do not identify the breathing as not yours.
E.g., if you notice the thought "I am breathing," do not identify the thought as yours, & do not identify the thought as not yours.
Feel free to anchor your intention with these words:
not identifying any doing as mine, & not identifying any doing as not mine
refraining from identifying any doing as mine or not mine
(2) non-identification with happenings
Do not identify any happenings as yours, & do not identify any happening as not yours.
Refrain from identifying any happening as yours or not yours.
E.g., if you notice a body, do not identify the body as yours, & do not identify the body as not yours.
E.g., if you notice a mind, do not identify the mind as yours, & do not identify the mind as not yours
Feel free to anchor your intention with these words:
not identifying any happening as me, & not identifying any happening as not me
refraining from identifying any happening as me or not me
Finish by bowing gently three times: once to doings, once to happenings, & once to you
